Why You Should Drink a Gallon of Water a Day!

Yes really, I drink a gallon of water a DAY. Now I know this can be intimidating but I do drink a gallon of water a day and this has changed my life! I’m not saying this was an easy task to start off doing, but it’s worth it.

Until recently, I noticed that I had developed bags and dark circles under my eyes and knew this was not from lack of sleep but from dehydration. Another thing I’ve dealt with my entire life are chronic migraines and was told by a natural medicine doctor to stop drinking cold water. I began to have fewer migraines over the year than I normally would as my body got used to the amount and temperature of the water.

After day one I noticed a difference in the color under my eyes. I always had to wear concealer or I would look like I had an all night bender in Las Vegas, so I was happy to find that my dark circles were a tad lighter! By the third or fifth day the color under my eyes changed even more, so I knew I was onto something. Not only did I look better, but I FELT better too!

I am a coffee drinker to a fault. I’ll wake up and before I speak to anyone in my home or take a phone call, I RUN to my coffee pot. I am a firm believer in “no talkie before coffee.” I then would crash about 2pm and feel like I simply couldn’t go on with my day unless I had another cup. Well, those days are gone! I still have my morning cup of coffee, but it’s then followed by 32 oz of water before I even leave the house or have any food!

I slowly stopped drinking anything sugary. Whenever I have a meal I simply just have water and my body just functions better. I also suffer from dry skin, and this has improved tremendously within the first month of drinking a gallon of a water. Also, the snacking monster who lives within my body has taken a back seat. It has curbed the urge to snack constantly.

Now, you’re going to need some supplies for this. These are the items I use to help me meet this goal. For those of you who follow my blog, you know I try really hard to leave a beautiful planet to my daughter one day, so I invested in a nice reusable water bottle from Swell to avoid adding more plastic to landfills. I also love my Fitbit and here’s why: not only can I track my steps but I can also track my water intake! Let me tell you how refreshing (no pun intended) it is to look at the end of the day and see just how much water you drank! You can look back over this data always and see how you’re progressing. (Sidenote: not all fitbits track your water!)

Give yourself a challenge and try this for a month; you’ll see a big difference! I now can’t function unless I have a good amount of water in take in my day.
